VIA WM8880 has two ARM Cortex-A9 core 1.5 GHz, which is similar to the existing WM8850 introduced last year. But in relation to the latter, the new SoC brings dual Mali 400 MP2 graphics processor (WM8850 has a single-core) with the expected higher graphics performance and capability of simultaneously running several video files in HD quality.

According to the published results of tests made by unnamed 7-inch tablet with Android 4.2.1, WM8880 shows solid performance sufficient for less demanding users, but as expected, less than MediaTek MT6589 chip with four cores.
