It is expected that China will end this month with 246 million active "smart" mobile phones and tablets based on Android and iOS, while in the U.S. there will be around 230 million, according to the market research company Flurry. For comparison, in late January in the U.S. there was 222 million "smart" devices, while in China was 221 million, again according to Flurry.

Flurry based their data on the monitoring of 2.4 billion application sessions each day. They also point out that it is hard to expect anyone anytime soon to overtake China in this area. The only country that has some chance is India, with its 1.2 billion population, compared to 1.3 billion Chinese. Still despite the large number of inhabitants, India in January had only 19 million "smart" devices, which was equal to Brazil and Russia in ninth place.
