New STB should be based on the Android operating system. The main function will be streaming o video content from the Google Play store, but also from services such as YouTube, Netflix and Hulu to user's TV. The device will be able to run the games that can be operated by remote control with a touchpad that will come with each STB or some of the Android-powered smartphones.
So far there is no information about the price of a new Google device.

According to the website The Information Google intends in the first half of next year to present their very own Set-Top Box (STB) device in the Nexus family of products. That information was received from an unnamed employee at Google.
