Hell breaks loose with the arrival of Steam Tags

Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

Valve's Steam users earlier this week were allowed to enter their own tags in the games available on the greatest service for digital distribution of games. With that move they showed, wheter it was accidentally or intentionally, that they believe too much to "the internet".

Tags that players can write at any game should have in theory help other users of the service to facilitate search through huge library of games and help them get to content that might interest them a lot easier. Of course, even though on paper this thing looks good, Valve's calculations failed to include a large number of "trolls" who could hardly wait for this opportunity.

Because of that, Among the most popular tags you can now find "crap", "nanomachines, son", "(つ ◕ _ ◕) つ", "dickwolves" and other creative, but not really useful categories. Steam tagging is currently in beta, and more information can be found here.
