Reading time is around minutes.

Mobile Internet access in Korea becomes even faster. The local mobile operator SK Telecom has announced up to 300 Mbps via 3band LTE-Advanced. For comparison, conventional LTE offers a theoretical approach speed of 75 megabits, while LTE Advanced offers 150 megabits per second.

SK Telecom has launched the first LTE-Advanced service in June last year. The new standard 3band LTE-Advanced will combine three frequency spectrum, and they say that they are currently considering the development of a faster access to the Internet using additional frequencies. According to the calculations of the Korean telecoms, download of the movie of 800MB will take 22 seconds, for comparison with 45 seconds on the networks of LTE-Advanced, 85 seconds over the standard LTE, and seven minutes and 24 seconds over 3G.

The service will be offered by SK Telecom at the end of the year. The technology will be demonstrated at the upcoming Mobile World Congress show in February.
