iPhone 6 to keep the 8 megapixel camera

Reading time is around minutes.

Apple iPhone 6 will have an eight-megapixel sensor resolution, sources say. The company will reportedly focus on increasing the quality of footage instead of just increasing the number of megapixels.

One of the areas on which they will reportedly work will be the quality of the optics. Instead of f/2.2 opening Apple plans to bring f/1.8 for the new iPhone in order to bring more light in the camera, which in combination with optical stabilization significantly improves the quality of recordings.

According to analysts, sensors with a resolution of 13 megapixels this year will record a 85 percent increase among smartphones. This means that Apple will resist the trend of (meaningless) resolution increase. The ones who are doing it in a smarter way are Nokia which offers a high-resolution sensors, but at the expense of larger physical dimensions.
