Is Android the pirate paradise?

Not only that they are struggling with the fragmentation of operating system, the authors of applications for Android are faced with another problem - piracy.

According to the authors of games for mobile platforms Butterscotch Shenanigans, the rate of piracy of their titles on Android is 14 times higher than on the IOS. Additionally, from total number of users of these games on Android, only 5% of them paid for game, while others have turned to a method of pirating available on Google's mobile OS.

Although piracy usually acquires more users, the authors caution that their games are hereby rating of their apps on Google Play will not increase, and those who supply illegal application will not even ask for support. They say „We made a free game – we just didn’t know it at that time“.

These are the results of a single game publishers and although they almost certainly do not present a general picture of ecosystem, Android piracy has been the topic of discussion for some time now. Last year the publisher Madfinger Games gave up the charge of their games on Android at a price of one dollar because piracy rates were "unbelivable."
