Amazon has joined the club of companies that reserved September for their big events. They sent invitations to newspapers for their press conference that will take place at Santa Monica, California, however no further details were provided. As usual, this created a bunch of rumors, and most believable are those about Amazon launching a new Kindle Fire, or even several different models of it. Beside that, there could be e-book readers based on e-ink with integrated illumination.

Some time ago there were rumors that the next Kindle Fire would have a camera and physical volume control buttons. There was nothing on the processor or Bluetooth capability, but it is certain it will have higher resolution than its predecessor (1280x800 pixels). After the new Fire is launched, it is expected that the old model will have a price drop to about $149, while the new model could be available in 2 different models (8GB and 16GB) with prices around $200 and $250. This e-ink e-reader surely won’t be cheaper than an entry level Kindle that is currently $79, so perhaps $120+ is a reasonable price to expect, compared to available products from other manufacturers.

There were all sorts of rumors regarding new Kindles, and after the competition presented their new models, Amazon has nothing more to wait for. Similar to other companies, they will (probably) introduce the new Kindle Fire right before holiday season, and as we can see, this seems to be a recipe for better sales for almost everyone on the market. So now we wait for September to see who will impress us more and get us to buy their products.
