Method of implementation will include an array of sensors on the device that will track the movements of user's hand. Specific device on which technology will debut is developed under a codename Goldfinger. This smartphone will be able to register a different hand movements in front or on the side of the device. Earlier this year, Nokia's (now former) Director of Design Marko Ahtisaari said they plan raise the interaction with the phone to a higher level through an experimental movement recognition technology. In addition, Nokia in this area has several registered patents.
The new device will appear in parallel with the launch of Windows 8.1 Phone whose functionality should be posted at the fair Mobile World Congress at the end of February.
[Ed - is this Nokia? or Microsoft phones that we are talking about and will the improvments continue once Nokia is just another division of Microsoft.]
