Rovio's vice president Petri Järvilehto said that “It was certainly satisfying to see Angry Birds gameplay adapt so well to other platforms in 2012. The features specific to the Wii U are very intriguing to us, so we're excited to release this version to fans.”
Although detailed information about the Wii U possibilities of Angry Birds are not known, due to its iOS roots we can assume them to be related with playing on the "small screen" on gamepad controller.
[Ed – Angry Birds has been a very successful franchise across many platforms, but as with every other game of its kind there is a limit to how far it can reach. We do expect to see this limit hit fairly soon as the market gets flooded with different versions of the game. Rovio does have one very solid thing going for them though. On the mobile platform you can still grab a very functional free version of the game. If this ever goes away or becomes a one level demo I think that Rovio’s favorite title will not stick around very long after that…]
