Google finished capturing Street view of Venice

It took them six years but finally they managed to get the task done. Google has succeeded in their long quest to record every corner of Venice for their service Street View. After they made virtual tours of Antarctica, the White House hallways, or underwater Great Barrier Reef available to everyone, at the end of this year on Street View you will be able to check the Venice from a street point of view.

Even before Google found innovative solutions to record smaller streets, like putting a camera on tricycles that were across the world, but because of numerous stairways and bridges over the Venetian canals they had to go even further. In April this year, two of their employees were sent to the arduous mission carrying 120 centimeters tall and 18 kilograms heavy camera mounted in packs.

It is interesting to note that they used the same equipment to recorded Street View from the tower Burj Khalifa in Dubai and on Galapagos. As a next step they plan to capture the Venice canals, and they will call it "Google gondola."
