While this is something you would expect from Microsoft, Google is obviously trying to protect as many patents that may one day be found in their smart Google Project Glass glasses. For now it is not known whether they will be included in the model that should come to market in 2014, or that we may see a 2.0 version. Since Google did not mention this while talking about the smart glasses project, chances are small, but we can’t say for certain that they will not include another technology.

In any case, the idea is very interesting because it consists of a laser attached to the frame of glasses that projects a qwerty keyboard and other keys on a surface or at the hand of the user. The camera and an embedded processor then record finger movements and convert them into real commands. This could be an excellent alternative to voice commands, head tracking and other systems that Google plans to incorporate into their smart glasses.
