In fact, Nokia has claimed that HTC with the distribution of Google Play application and trade-related content violates patent EP0812120. Therefore, for the outcome of the case Google also became very interested and decided to join as a third party. The second patent, EP1312974, is connected with the screen light management depending on the ambient light, which is also a technology being used by a large part of the cell phone manufacturers.

HTC has announced the verdict a victory for the company and for Android, and that they will start the process in which they will try to challenge the validity of the entire patent EP0812120. Nokia of course is not satisfied with the verdict, and therefore announced they are considering options to continue the legal fight and protect their technology.
