Kim Dotcom to bring Megaupload back

pic 1

There was a lot of activity today on Kim Dotcom’s, the famous Megaupload owner, Twitter feed. Dotcom revealed in series of announcements that “We are building a massive global network,  All non-US hosters will be able to connect servers & bandwidth. Get ready. ” and he didn’t forget to put in a word about legal services “They abused the wrong guy. I am going to turn this world upside down. Power to the people. Bye bye Echelon. Hello Freedom.“. After he told us in July that Megaupload will be back bigger, better, faster, free of charge and shielded from attacks, today he asked for “Developers of up/download & file managers, email & fax tools, VOIP & video apps“ to email him in case they are interested in getting early API access.

After Megaupload was shut down when SOPA/PIPA/CISPA were shelved by the US government.  Dotcom decided not to host any servers for new Megaupload in the US. “We are building a massive global network. All non-US hosters will be able to connect servers & bandwidth” , obviously he doesn’t even want to give them a shot of taking the site, or any of the data again. Besides all of that, one of the announcements was about security “The new Mega will offer one-click-encryption of ALL your data transfers, on the fly, easy to use, free of charge, TOTAL PRIVACY!“.

This move is surely to be welcomed by all of the internet population, and with so much enthusiasm coming from Kim it is promising project. Also this should be a huge sign to all governments of the world that you just can’t take users’ privacy and data they want to keep for themselves. Kim stated Hollywood is in the control of politics, and we can see that is not far from the truth with SurfTheChannel, The Pirate Bay, NinjaVideo and of course Megaupload. For the end I'll quote one of my favorite characters, Tron, feel free to compare Kim Dotcom to him, “I fight for users!“.

[Ed – We have followed the Megaupload and Kim Dotcom case from the beginning. There has not been any supporting evidence for the original takedown request, the seizure of property or the request for extradition. The DoJ, FBI, and Hollywood threw together a charge that gave them the authority to take down Megaupload and seize everything. This was done in the hope that they would find evidence to support their original charges. Now, things are not looking good for the original case and as move information is demanded from the FBI by the courts in New Zealand we find that there never was any. Megaupload was meant as a message and it looks like one is being sent. The problem is that the message was not the one that Hollywood wanted]
