The news is particularly unusual given the fact that Sony in the past often advocated 3D technology, both in movies and in games, especially because the reproduction of 3D Blu-ray discs was possible on Playstation 3. Shortly after the publication of manual, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida received many queries related to playback of 3D content on the Twitter, but Yoshida said that support will not be available right after the launch, leaving that option to appear later.

To even be able to view the contents of your DVDs and Blu-ray discs on the PlayStation 4 owners of the console will have to download the day-one patch.
