CEO of Nokia's Solutions and Networks (NSN) has traveled to the U.S. last year to discuss with the leaders of Juniper possible cooperation and a merger of the companies, which would strengthen the current weak business of the NSN in the United States. The current value of Juniper shares is approximately 13.7 billion dollars, so the acquisition would present a great financial burden for NSN. Nokia's former CEO, Stephen Elop, who returned to Microsoft after its takeover of Nokia's business with mobile phones, was chief operating officer at Juniper for about a year during the 2007.
Representatives from Nokia, NSN and Juniper declined to comment on these rumors.
