Yesterday Microsoft may have confirmed what many have speculated, DirectX 12 will have a multi-GPU component that will allow AMD and nVidia to play nicely together. What this means exactly no one is sure, but we do know that some form of code is there to allow this. This is not the first time that someone has tried to setup a cross vendor system for GPUs. Not all that long ago Lucid Technologies tried it with dubious benefits.

In an unsurprising move Intel has kicked out a new SoC (System on Chip) that bears the label Xeon. The Xeon D 1500 family is intended as to be a one-chip solution for networking devices, storage appliances and micro-servers. The Xeon D also has functions to assist with compute operations which should make it pretty versatile.

A couple of days ago Apple formally announced their Apple watch product along with specifications and pricing. The majority of the press and market analysts have been in a frenzy since the announcement and have tried to act like this product is more than a late comer to an already large vertical. According to people that were present at the event the announcement was met with very little excitement and the applause that happened for the Apple watch was very limited.
It seems that the little “error” that was made when listing the specifications of NVIDIA’s GTX970 it getting ugly. A Law firm in Alabama has taken a single complaint and request for monetary compensation and pulled it into a full blown class action law suit against both NVIDIA and Gigabyte. For those of you that have been living under a rock for the last couple of months, where is a summary of the issue.
AMD can be a confusing company. Over the years they have made more than a few choices that just do not seem to make sense, but we are not going to dive into that right now. Instead we are going to focus on a recent decision that seems both ill-conceived and sure to confuse AMD supporters.
