Microsoft's Albert Panello announced the news in a recent interview with Gamespot and stressed that players can still set the console upright, but they will do that at their own risk. Although problems with the cooling should not exist regardless of the position of the console, Panello explained that problems arise due to the design of optical devices, which is why there is a serious danger of destroying disks.

Like the Xbox 360, the new PlayStation 4 is designed for vertical and horizontal placement on the surface, and owners will be able to choose which way suits them better and takes up less space. Looks like another plus for the Sony's console.
