Specifications were already announced at IFA 2012 and they will include an Exynos quad core processor running at 1.6 GHz, unlike the Qualcomm in the S3. It also has 2 GB of RAM, a huge 5.5-inch Super Amoled display with a resolution of 1280x720p, 16GB of storage, and a 3,100 mAh battery. As far as the camera is concerned it's a pretty standard 8 Mpix rear and 1.8 Mpix front cameras. Beside all this the Note II also has an S-Pen Stylus so you don’t have to navigate with your fingers. The device will be capable of 4G LTE/HSPA+ speeds.
It will be the first Samsung device to ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on it. All prices and exact dates will be announced very soon by the carriers. This new Note II can be looked as a hybrid of the Samsung Galaxy 3 and Galaxy Note and because of that it will undoubtedly get attention from smartphone/tablet fans. With all the hype about the Apple vs. Samsung war it will be interesting to see if the Note II will affect S3 or new iPhone sales, maybe even iPad mini that should be coming soon.
[Ed – the new class of hybrid devices is going to be an interesting addition into the market. We are not sure that this will be a big hit, but there is an indication that the new larger phones are popular with enterprise users and the IT Crowd. It is large enough to use on the go and not too large to make it unusable as a phone if you wanted to. It is this smaller market that makes us think that the Note II will not have a major impact on sales of the S3 or the iPhone. People that will want to get a Note are unlikely to want an iPhone or Galaxy S 3 in the first place.]
