A gaming tablet called the WikiPad will finally go on sale this spring at a price of $249. The WikiPad Company unveiled the first prototype of this tablet at last year's CES in a 10 inch version, but this tablet has never been on sale.

The announced release of the WikiPad now has a 7 inch screen and a distinctive dock with many controls for easier and more comfortable playing. The screen has an IPS matrix with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, and the tablet is based on Nvidia's Tegra 3 SoC chip ticking at 1.3 GHz with 1 gigabyte of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. The storage is expandable with microSD cards. The operating system is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the WikiPad has a 15 Wh battery capacity and the ability to connect via Wi-Fi and LAN.

The tablet comes with a support for PlayStation Mobile and Nvidia TegraZone, OnLive , Big Fish Games and Google's Play application store, and if you decide to separate it from the dock with the controls, it  becomes a fully-fledged 7 inch tablet for all other tasks, very similar to the Nexus 7 as far as hardware part is concerned. Weight of the WikiPad’s dock is 760 grams, while the WikiPad itself weighs 320 grams.
