Synology shows us what to expect in DSM 5.0 during CES 2014

Reading time is around minutes.

CES 2014, Las Vegas, Nevada -  We spent some time with our friends at Synology checking out some of their new products as well as talking about the upcoming release of Disk Station Manager 5.0 (Beta).  For those of you that might not be familiar with Synology they make a wide range of network attached storage products that fit into the small to medium sized business pricing model. What is nice about Synology is that their features and performance options can actually bridge into enterprise performance needs.

As you can see there are some exciting options coming with the next generation of DSM 5.0 Beta. As with many of their public Beta releases you can expect this to be a very polished release. Synology is usually looking for feature input, usability comments and performance numbers.

We will have more information for you once the Beta is out and will also bring you performance information once we have the chance to test it out.

For those of you looking for something a little more… rugged IOSafe was also showing off a ruggedized product based on the DS1513+. This fireproof, water proof, and shock proof product is the big brother of their original 2-bay NAS, but is still just as rugged as the original. This product is going to be a pretty big deal to anyone looking for a HIPA compliant backup solution (HIPA in a box). You get the solid performance and feature set of the DS1513+ all in a nice fireproof package.
