Play Station 4 presentation at the GameCom
A big day for all Play Station fans. Sony officially announced the release date for their new console Play Station 4, it will be available on November 15 in the US, and 14 days later in Europe. So far there are more than 1 million preorders for the console, and sales predictions are very bright for Sony. Today on the Gamecom Sony presented a lot, and we will do a quick review for you of the most important parts of the presentation.
Nvidia Shield OS is open source
Nvidia Shield console is an interesting gaming system that supports all Android games, but also users can play all PC titles via streaming from the computer system, provided they are equipped with appropriate Nvidia graphic cards. These days the company announced that the operating system that runs Shield console will get the open source status, which means that anyone can use it for free, modify and adapt it in order to create their own games and programs.
PlayStation 4 will have “only” 4.5 GB of RAM for games
According to the data available from Sony's technical documents, as well as expert analysis, Sony PS4 console will not allow developers to access all of 8 GB of RAM console has. Specifically, developers will have at their disposal only 4.5 GB, which can additionally be increased to a maximum of 5.5 GB, in “certain cases” and in special configurations.

Gamestick coming in September
Speaking in an interview with Joystiq PlayJam's Sameer Baroova revealed that the team misjudged interest in their kickstarted GameStick mini console and that the number of orders exceeded all expectations.
Has Valve Become A Joke in the Development Community?
Valve as a game development company has been a big hit in the past. Titles like Half--Life (and all the follow-ons) Day of The Ancients, and more have made them a name that still is respected by gamers. At least that was the case until they teased the gaming community with the third installment of Half-Life too many times. Now the consensus is that Valve cares more about getting Steam Working for Linux out of spite for Microsoft than it does about releasing games. In fact the whole thought of seeing Half-Life 3 in the foreseeable future has become something of a joke in the gaming and development community.
Kinect for Xbox One will not work on PC
For those who plan to buy a Xbox One, and then use the console's Kinect on the PC and vice versa we are brining some bad news. According to Ars Technica, the new Kinect for Xbox One will not be able to directly connect to a PC, unlike the older versions of the device for the Xbox 360 that came with the adapter that made connectiong to PC's via USB slot quite simple. Instead, the new Kinect that comes with the Xbox One has its own connector and it is physically impossible to connect it with anything on the PC, and Microsoft does not intend to make an adapter that would allow such thing.
Xbox One subscriptions surpassed PS4 ones
When Microsoft finally realized that they were badly wrong with the way they presented their console, they decided to change their politics overnight, and announced that it they are dropping DRM and restrictions relating to the loan and exchange of used games, it immediately reflected in the subscription.
PS3 Update Bricks Systems... Sony Is Working On It.
After showing that they were not willing to go down the same restrictive road that Microsoft was with their new console Sony has followed Microsoft down a different road… well sort of. Typically this was caused by overheating, but there were a few cases where an update appeared to herald a new round of dead consoles. Sony is copying this trend; not on purpose to be sure, but that is little comfort to owners of the PlayStation 3 that just installed the latest update.
