Concern About Game Rentals Casts A Shadow Over the Xbox One Already...
It is about 24 hours since Microsoft pushed the Xbox One out the door (figuratively) and already sides are being drawn up. In our coverage of the market we expected to see two sides in the coming argument with the Console Purists on one side and the Console Enthusiasts on the other. We were way off base as there are now multiple sides in the debate. One big group that we did not count on was the game renters and resellers. Due to the high price of many games a large segment of the market will now rent games before they buy them. In this manner they can save some money if the game turns out to be a dud. Many gamers also trade-in and resell their games (to get money to buy the next round). Unfortunately for these group Microsoft appears to have forgotten them (along with locking out Xbox 360 games).
Xbox One Officialy Launched and Available For Pre-Order
Microsoft today in Redmond before a bunch of journalists introduced the next generation Xbox, which, despite rumors that suggested otherwise, wears a simple name - Xbox One. Although the core purpose of this unit is designed for gaming, Microsoft decided to create a central ultimedia device through which we will watch TV, listen to music and surf the internet. To make the use of all the multimedia features more comfortable Microsoft has created a so-called Snap Mode, which, according to what can be seen should allow fairly easy manipulation of different applications that we use.
The Xbox One Is A Split Personality PC Designed To Rule Your Living Room
Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One today in a live media spectacle that felt like a pale imitation of an Apple event. In the end what they unveiled looked a lot like some of the HTPC systems that I used to build more than a gaming console. In truth the new Xbox One probably has more in common with your traditional HTPC than Microsoft would like to admit. But there are still some cool things in it that make it interesting and probably unique in the industry.
Console sales dropping in the U.S.
Overall spending on gaming industry the U.S. in April was $495.2 million, which is 25% less than in the same period a year earlier.
Next Gen Xbox to be launched in May
Microsoft has announced the date of official launch of the new-generation Xbox console. The company has sent out invitations to certain media to presentation of the new generation Xbox, which will be held on May 21st at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, starting at 10 a.m. local time.
Will Microsoft Announce the Next Generation Xbox In May?
If you were worried about Microsoft’s response to the new PlayStation 4 you can rest easy... Well you can start to think about resting easy. You see although
Microsoft has not (and will not) officially talked the next generation Xbox (that everyone is calling the Xbox 720 for now) we are hearing that this new product will be released in May. If this rumor is true it still does not give us much more than a possible moth that the new console will be released and a few rumors on what might be inside.
Angry Birds coming to Wii U
Despite the fairly high price of around 40 dollars, Angry Birds on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS has sold more than a million copies, giving Rovio reason to be optimistic about the upcoming Wii and Wii U versions. Obviously Angry Birds madness is nowhere near ending, and there is certainly no reason for it to. Angry Birds has even extended into the streaming media player market where we have found it pre-installed on some devices like the Roku.
New Assassins Creed with a new protagonist
During the presentation of financial results achieved during the last fiscal year, Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot confirmed that the next game in the Assassin's Creed series should debut by April next year at the latest. After five big sequels and a few supporting ones, it looks like Ubisoft will try to make some more money from this extremely popular franchise.
Are these the Specifications for the Xbox 720?
Portal VGLEAKS says they managed to get their hands on the detailed specifications of Microsoft's new video game console Xbox 720 (Durango). Although there is no indication from which source this information came from, it sounds quite plausible and very interesting. The leaked specs partially overlap with some earlier rumors which do add to their credibility.
Will the PlayStation 4 show up at E3?
Sony's vice president of home entertainment, Hiroshi Sakamoto, in his statement to the Chilean website Emol, gave some clues that the PlayStation 4 could be presented before this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which takes place in June.
