UL Acquires Futuremark
Today is was announced that Futuremark would be “joining” Underwriters Laboratories. The standards group that most people in the US are familiar with his buying up the same benchmarking company that most of us have come to love and hate. According to both Futuremark and UL the acquisition is more like a partnership, it is just that one will fully own the other: “Today, we’re announcing a new partnership. One that will significantly strengthen Futuremark through increased investment in our people and products while protecting our independence and neutrality.”
3DMark for Windows RT
Futuremark according to earlier announcements continues to expand the availability of 3DMark benchmark tools on other platforms. Following versions for Windows, Android and iOS, the company presented the issue of 3DMark for Windows RT and tablets powered by these operating systems.
Patch for 3DMark enables operations with 3 or 4 GPUs

Futuremark announced that they have just released a patch v1.1.0 for the new 3DMark, which as the most important news emphasize the possibility to operate on the computers with three or four graphics processors. In such situations the tests until now gave less than expected. At first it was thought to be a minor problem in the video drivers, but after months of browsing through 3Dmark Engine they found out that the problem was still in its code.

Futuremark recently released a new version of 3DMark 11 for testing the performance of graphics cards. 3DMark 11 version 1.0.4 is now fully compatible with Windows 8, The good news is that the scoring system has not been changed so that the results obtained are comparable with the previous test made in the version 1.0.3.

Winners on Their Way to MSI MOA Grand Final in Taipei
HELSINKI, FINLAND – AUGUST 16, 2011 - Futuremark® today announced the winners of its annual Lords of Overclocking competition. The MSI sponsored event, which is Futuremark's premier OC contest each year, saw over 10,000 entries from more than 80 countries across the globe. With such worldwide interest, competition was fierce for the top prize: flights, accommodation and qualification to the MSI Master Overclocking Arena (MOA) 2011 grand final in Taipei.
- Incredibly, 39 scores submitted during the four week competition were higher than the previous world record for a single GPU.
- MSI graphics cards now hold 44 out of top 50 single-GPU scores in Futuremark's online results database.
- In a nail-biting finish, the winning score of P12499 from overclocker "SuicidePhoenix" came on the very last day of the competition.
Proving his mastery of extreme overclocking, overall winner SuicidePhoenix pushed his Intel Core i7-2600K and MSI N580GTX Lightning far beyond their factory settings as his scores demonstrate.

- Graphics Score: 12349 (Stock setting:6400)
- Physics Score: 13689 (Stock setting:8200)

Futuremark® Announces Winners of Palit Overclocking Contest
HELSINKI, FINLAND – AUGUST 8, 2011 – In June Futuremark® ran a worldwide overclocking competition to push the limits of performance for PCs using Sandy Bridge chipsets. Today, Futuremark congratulates the winners of the contest that saw thousands of entries from more than 60 countries.
SANDY BRIDGE Z68 INTEGRATED GRAPHICS OC CONTEST
This contest segment was restricted to PCs with Intel's new Sandy Bridge Z68 chipset with integrated Intel HD Graphics.
Alva "Lucky_n00b" Jonathan smashed through the P4000 limit to set a new world record of P4419 using 3DMark Vantage's performance preset. His set-up consisted of an Intel Core i7-2600K with MSI Z68A-GD80 motherboard. To better appreciate Alva's skills, with factory settings his set up would score around P2200.
SANDY BRIDGE PLUS PALIT DISCRETE GRAPHICS OC CONTEST
The second contest segment was open to any PC using a Sandy Bridge-based CPU together with a single card, single GPU Palit brand discrete graphics card.
Giorgioprimo took the honors, and collected the $1000 cash top prize, with a score of P10734 using 3DMark 11 performance preset. His set up included an Intel Core i7-2600K processor paired with a Palit GeForce GTX 580 graphics card. At factory settings, this set up would score P6600.

Gigabyte and HWBot kicks off the A75 OC Challenge
Now that the AMD Llano CPU with its Fusion architecture is out and we have seen some of what it can do you knew it would only be a matter of time before the call to overclock this new CPU was put out.
Gigabyte is partnering up with HWBot for their A75 OC Challenge. This new overclocking contest is simple; Gigabyte wants you to push this new CPU+APU to it limits using any Gigabyte A75 Based motherboard.
There will be 5 stages you will have to submit clocks and scores for,
Stage 1 – 3DMark11 Performance Preset
Stage 2 – 3DMark Vantage Performance Preset
Stage 3 – PCMark 7
Stage 4 - Unigine Heaven DX11
Stage 5 – UCBench 2011
