New Chromebox All-in-One from LG

LG has announced Chromebox, and it is an all-in-one computer based on Chrome OS. Chromebox is intended for the execution of "lightweight" applications within the browser, and accordingly is appropriately equipped.

Improved Gmail for Android

Users of Gmail Android app until now could sent as an attachment only photos and videos, but with the new version 4.7 Google has finally allowed sending of other file types. The new version of Gmail allows sending of zipped files which can also now be downloaded directly to the Android device.

Lately the news has had a few articles about how companies like Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo etc. are pushing the government for radical changes to their surveillance policies and demanding better protections for their customers. We have seen new ads focused on explaining how important our data is to them (and in some cases how the other guys are abusing it). The groups lining up and demanding change are many of the same companies that Edward Snowden’s bevy of leaked documents claimed were working hand in hand with the NSA to allow for mass spying on peoples’ data and that in cases where they were not directly cooperating lax security practices allowed for easy retrieval of user information.

There is a phrase in the patent world that used to mean something, but now seems to have lost its meaning: prior art. The term according to Miriam Webster means: “the processes, devices, and modes of achieving the end of an alleged invention that were known or knowable by reasonable diligence before and at its date —used chiefly in patent law”. To put it simply prior art is any technology, device, papers, theory, etc. that was publicly known at the time of “invention” and before the patent filing which could have influenced (or actually did) the inventors.

Google Glass available for developers

Google has, as expected, began a new phase of commercialization of their smart glasses. They decided to send an email to specific number of developers during this week in which the company invites them to buy their very own copy of Glass (with the corresponding security code), in order to begin with the development and adaptation of their applications.
