If you thought it was bad that AT&T dropped the price on HTC’s Facebook centric phone to $0.99 in less than a month you haven’t heard anything yet. It is not only consumer acceptance of the Facephone that Facebook gets to look forward to. There is also a problem with the Facebook Home App despite Facebook’s claims that it has been downloaded one Million times. I seems that Facebook cannot catch a break when it comes to mobile.

If Mark Zuckerberg and crew needed any more evidence that people are not interested in a FacePhone they only have to look at the HTC First. This new phone has already dropped down from its introductory cost to the $.99 bucket which is normally reserved for products that are at or near the end of their sales life. The HTC First is less than a month old so why is it already in the bargain bucket? Is this showing that people do not want Facebook running their phone or simply a reflection that people are do not want a phone that is too social network oriented?

Is third the lucky time for HTC?

HTC tablet

According to Display Search HTC intends to send to the market its first Windows tablet, and it will come with a 10.1" diagonal and supposedly 1080p resolution. While a manufacturer for HTC should be Pegatron, the screen would come from LG, which has a production process for matrix density of 218 pixels per inch (iPad has 264 ppi, while Samsung Galaxy tab 2 has 149 ppi) which would put the display somewhere in the middle of the offerings.

One is certainly most desirable of HTC's smartphones currently on market and many will surely carefully protect it from taking damage. But that was not the plan of the team on site iFixit, who must disassemble every new gadget and thoroughly examine the possibility of its eventual repair.

HTC One postponed once again

One black silver

HTC's presentation of this year’s flagship model One, in many ways the most impressive smartphone that currently exists, many considered brilliantly timed. It took place a few weeks before the release of Samsung Galaxy S4, with which HTC got a unique opportunity to own a superb device placed on the market long before its fiercest competitor, and win a bunch of users in their own camp.

The Facephone could be a reality on April 4th

Facebook-logo

It looks like the rumors of the death of the “Facephone” could have been exaggerated. According to some interesting rumors flying around the internet, Facebook might release their own branded version of Android on HTC hardware. This means that the potential for a Facebook banded phone is more likely than many (including us). Interestingly enough we did catch this potential in an article we wrote last year in May. We had spoken with Paul Amsellem, CEO of Mobile Network Group about the possibility of a Facephone and he had indicated that if this were to be a reality we would need to see a real product (OS or Phone) in 12-18 months. That article was published on May 30 2012. This seems to be a very unusual coincidence.
