Broadwell Delayed One Quarter Due to Technical Issues
It looks like Intel will be delaying their next CPU core, Broadwell by at least one quarter. The reason for this delay has been listed as a technical difficulties. What these difficulties are we have not been able to identify, but it is possible that the 14nm process could be part of the equation. Intel showed Broadwell working at IDF which is good news, but it is still possible that there are minor problems with yields that put things behind schedule.
Intel shows off their smallest SoC ever; the Quark
Intel started their Intel Developers Forum (IDF), held from 10-12.9. in San Francisco, in a very interesting conference where the CEO Brian Krzanich showed interesting new products. One of them is 14nm Broadwell Intel SoC, which Krzanich demonstrated as a part of an unknown reference notebook on which he did not present any details.
Intel Positions Atom to Challenge ARM in the Low Power Data Center
Intel’s Atom CPU is getting a little bit of a boost in order to give it an edge in the microserver market. The new CPU is the C2000 which is something of a departure from their older Atom designs. Unlike the Atom we all know about (two cores, limited compute and memory support) the new C2000 is much beefier with 8 cores and support for 64 GB of memory. The move is something of a departure for the Atom line as some at Intel have claimed that adding more cores to a CPU is only needed if your CPU is not powerful or efficient enough.
Ivy Bridge-E sales started
Intel has finally officially released three new chips for the LGA2011 socket, based on the Ivy Bridge-E architecture. Featured models are Core i7 4820K, 4930K and 4960X, all with unlocked multiplier for easier additional overclocking.
Prices of Ivy Bridge-E processors appeared

Are We Hearing the Whole Story In the Samsung Benchmark Issue?
The Consumer Electronics world is a very interesting one (it is also very entertaining). There is a ton of money and effort put into conveying a message for this or that product and service by people that, often, do not even know the technology they are talking about. On top of that there is a media presence that is made up of everything from the entry level user to the ubergeeks. You have blogs, news sites, review sites, company review sites, Amazon reviews, New Egg Blogs and customer reviews and more. It is almost impossible to get any real information out of what is broadcast on the internet these days. This is even more true when you have all of these sites rushing to get their article out first. This environment has created a situation where information is partially researched, based solely on synthetic tests or (even worse) is more opinion than fact.

Intel Pushes 14nm Broadwell Back to 2H 2014
A Rumor popped up today that claims that Intel’s 14nm Broadwell might be pushed back to 2H 2014. This information comes as a slide that was posted on the site VR-Zone. In the slide it seems to show that the second generation of Haswell is now slated for release later than originally expected 2Q 2014 and with Boradwell slipping with it. The new information (if accurate) means that Intel will be pushing back their expected “tick” for desktop and dropping in a refresh instead (another “tock”?).
