Tim Cook is starting to backpedal on the way that Apple views the market. There was a time when Apple liked to talk up the number of units they shipped and their market share. It was Apple’s pride and joy and they used it often to show the power of their brand. However, after the death of Steve jobs things have started to slide. Businessman Tim Cook has not had the same presence that Jobs had. Their product releases have not been of the same style that Jobs had and Apple has suffered from it.

Toshiba Excite Pro tablet

These days, we're looking to do things quickly while not sacrificing the quality of our work in the process. That's where tablets come in handy and it's easy to see why they're gaining more and more popularity. A PC tablet works like a regular computer, but it’s not nearly as heavy as one. This means you can do all of your work on the road, at the local coffee shop, or right in your own home without a heavy laptop sitting on your lap. You can take a PC tablet with you anywhere you go to get work done. If you're going to a business meeting, having a tablet allows you to take notes when necessary. On the other hand, if you feel like relaxing and just watching a show, you can stream shows from your tablet as well. Tablets are making life so much more convenient for consumers as they're portable computers. They're lightweight and convenient to take with you anywhere. These are just a few of the advantages of a PC tablet.

US District Court Judge Denise Cotes has finally come back with her recommendations for Apple’s consequences in the eBook Price Fixing case. Her recommendations have met with mixed feelings from both sides (even those that feel that Apple was guilty). Most Apple fans seem to feel that this is far too harsh a punishment and that Apple did nothing wrong by brokering contracts that changed the pricing model for the entire eBook industry. Those that agree with the guilty verdict feel that the recommendations do not go far enough to change Apple’s behavior.

Board of directors unhappy with Tim Cook

cook

Arthur Levinson, Al Gore, Bill Campbell and other members of the board of directors of Apple are not completely satisfied with the work Tim Cook has done so far, and he was appointed as a CEO because exactly those people were confident that he was the right man to take Jobs place. Poor performance of Apple and decline in value of the shares from around $700 to around $500 certainly wont help with the unpleasant situation at the top  of the company.

Yesterday Apple had their WWDC and on its close their stocks fell 6 points to close around $439 at the end of the day. This dip was not unexpected and we have seen it happen before just we always see Analysts get into a frenzy leading up to WWDC feeling that Apple must have something good up their sleeves this time. We saw frenzy start on last week (June 3-7 2013) and peak over the weekend when the usual sites started talking about how bad things must be at Samsung to suffer a 6% drop in share price. From there the usual media hype continued… until we saw everything fall apart at WWDC.

Microsoft has put up an interesting new video spot where they attack the iPad on its in ability to truly multi-task, the static display and Office. The spot is sort of clever and uses Siri to highlight the points at each step. The goal of the ad is to show Windows 8 on a tablet as a true productivity device. As you might expect truth in advertising is a little limited in the ads, but we could be seeing a change in the way that Microsoft is approaching marketing. This is a good thing considering the dreadful sales that Windows 8 and Windows RT are showing right now.
