Dropping the Kinect from the Xbox One has Doubled Sales
This morning some news flitted across my desk that made me thing of an old TV commercial. In this ad an older man in a suit ask the question: “How do we measure success?” His response is: “One client at a time.” All of this is done in black and white for an even better impression. Now that I have gone off on a tangent I should probably explain what I am talking about. The news in question was a bit of information stating that Xbox One sales had nearly doubled. The reason, Microsoft removed the Kinect from the bundle and cut the price.
Microsoft Releasing Kinect for Windows on July 15th, But will Anyone Buy It?
Eight days… that is all you have to wait if you want to get Kinect for your Windows PC. At least that is the word out of Redmond today. Despite the fact that many gamers do not see the need for, or even want the Kinect Microsoft is pushing their plans to launch this motion sensing device for the PC anyway. The reasons behind this are probably simple, they were too far ahead to back out..
Microsoft to offer Xbox One without Kinect and drop price to $399
Ed Fries, the father of the first Xbox said a few days ago that he likes the idea that every Xbox One is the same, because it is important for developers . According to him, problem with the previous version of the console (Xbox 360) was that some consoles were sold without hard drives. But now it looks like Fries did not know that his former colleagues at Microsoft are preparing a new, cheaper package of the Xbox One. From June 9, Kinectless Xbox One will go on sale.
Kinect for Xbox One will not work on PC

For those who plan to buy a Xbox One, and then use the console's Kinect on the PC and vice versa we are brining some bad news. According to Ars Technica, the new Kinect for Xbox One will not be able to directly connect to a PC, unlike the older versions of the device for the Xbox 360 that came with the adapter that made connectiong to PC's via USB slot quite simple. Instead, the new Kinect that comes with the Xbox One has its own connector and it is physically impossible to connect it with anything on the PC, and Microsoft does not intend to make an adapter that would allow such thing.

Using a new method that mimics the human brain, Microsoft researchers claim to have doubled the speed at which the speech is recognized and the results returned to the user. To achieve this acceleration, Microsoft researchers used a new approach, which should also increase the accuracy of speech recognition by 15%.

Microsoft Lowers prices on Kinect by $40

Looks like Microsoft is seriously trying to boost sales of their peripherals, they have announced their Essentials Pack (wireless gamepad, HDMI cable, remote control and 3 months of Xbox Live Gold) for $79.99. In addition they will also cut down the price on Kinect. This device that allows you to make your body a controller has become very popular in a last few years since Nintendo launched Wii, and this price drop is sure to attract more new customers to this type of gaming.
