Samsung achiveing great numbers
We all knew that Samsung is doing great, but without some official financial information to back this up it's hard to tell exactly how great. According to the recently published estimates of performance in the first quarter of this year, Samsung has produced about 7.75 billion operating profit which is huge 45% more than in the same quarter last year.
Jelly Bean got 25% of Android users
The number of devices that run Android version 4.x rose once again, but maybe not so explosive as compared to 16.5% increase last month. The figure of 25% of the device running on Android 4.x Jelly Bean and such a large jump in the month was not due to the fact that a few hundred thousand or even million users bought new smartphones.
Is third the lucky time for HTC?
According to Display Search HTC intends to send to the market its first Windows tablet, and it will come with a 10.1" diagonal and supposedly 1080p resolution. While a manufacturer for HTC should be Pegatron, the screen would come from LG, which has a production process for matrix density of 218 pixels per inch (iPad has 264 ppi, while Samsung Galaxy tab 2 has 149 ppi) which would put the display somewhere in the middle of the offerings.
AMOLED screen to increase their presence
AMOLED screens should become more prevalent in smartphones in the coming years. At least that show forecasts analyst firm IHS iSupply, which could be valid up to 2017. The delivery of AMOLED screens for mobile devices should double over the current state.
HTC One postponed once again
HTC's presentation of this year’s flagship model One, in many ways the most impressive smartphone that currently exists, many considered brilliantly timed. It took place a few weeks before the release of Samsung Galaxy S4, with which HTC got a unique opportunity to own a superb device placed on the market long before its fiercest competitor, and win a bunch of users in their own camp.
More and more native BlackBerry apps
BlackBerry regularly praises growing number of applications for BlackBerry 10, a mobile platform on which their success very directly depends. However, skeptics say that these are artificially inflated numbers in which the company adds the application for Android that support execution within the emulator built-in BlackBerry’s new mobile OS. Of the 70,000 applications that were supposedly launched in parallel with the BlackBerry 10, around 40% of them are intended for emulation mode, which is quite a lot, especially when you take into account that they work noticeably slower and worse than native applications, making them quite unusable.
Samsung to bring tablet with 10.1” or 11.6” AMOLED display
Two years ago, when Samsung released the Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet that contained the Super AMOLED Plus screen, according to some surveys it has earned the title of "the best tablet on the market" from the customers. Although tests of users can’t be fully relevant, these data certainly helped Samsung in the decision that it was time for a full HD AMOLED tablet with a larger diagonal.
Sony brings middle tier Xperias
Earlier this year Sony introduced a flagship smartphone called the Xperia Z, and now he's joined by two middle-class devices. The first is the Xperia SP driven by dual core processor with a clock speed of 1.7 GHz and 4.6 inch diagonal screen resolution of 720x1280 pixels. All of this is put in a compact body made of aluminum. One of the most interesting informations is that SP will have support for LTE networks.
