NEC claims the Lightest Ultrabook

Under lengthy title LaVie Z LZ750/NS NEC announced lightest ultrabook laptop that should weigh a maximum of 795 grams together with battery. To make it so loghtweight (we must emphasize that it is a fully fledged notebook) they were combining materials such as magnesium when making the case.

NEC has introduced its version of a wide 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, model MultiSync EA294WMi. Monitor has an IPS matrix with LED backlit 29 inch diagonal and a resolution of 2560x1080 pixels.

NEC has announced the launch of an interesting smartphone that uses two screens - Medias W. This clamshell device, while is assembled it looks like a normal smartphone, and two screens can be used in parallel after the device is opened.

Sony gives up Optiarc

According to Sony's reconstruction plan, there is no room for their optical disc drive business for the next year. Unconfirmed sources said that Sony Optiarc Inc., the Sony Subsidiary that makes CD and DVD drives used in PCs, will have to terminate all operations by March 2013. This move should be one of Sony's attempts to cut a few money-losing divisions. The bigger part of 400 employees in Japan and other countries will be let go through early retirement program as it was stated in Asahi Shimbun paper today.

Quanta Sues AMD... But will it Hold up in Court?

AMD_logoThey say the consumer has a very short memory and that may be true in many cases, but when news that AMD is being sued by Quanta (the largest contract notebook maker in the world) we saw many, many posts and comments bringing up nVidia’s fiasco with the 8600M GPU. Although the two issues might appear to be similar, they are very far apart in terms of not only the problem, but who was/is ulimately responsible for the problem.
