Just when you thought it could not get more annoying, Microsoft has turned up the Windows 10 update notifications. The little nudges for Windows 8.x users pop up in the corner (systray) and also when you boot up your PC or do something as crazy as open Internet Explorer. This last one has many looking to alternate browsers just so they do not get bothered with the pop-up.

Microsoft is joining the ranks of Symantec and McAfee in a very special group. This is a group of companies whose anti-malware products can be/have been attacked directly. According to a security update Microsoft says that a specifically crafted file can stop the service from working until manually removed.

Microsoft is an odd company at times. After writing changes to their operating systems that pretty much force updates on you when you shutdown they have now started on a campaign to deny updates to you unless you apply all of the ones they want you to have. This new patch prerequisite started a couple of months ago when it was announced that Windows 8.1 users would not get any more patches until they had installed a certain platform update.

deleted_topicBlizzard is facing new criticism over Diablo III (yes again). It seems that they payment verification methods (when you buy a digital copy of the game) are taking as long as 72 hours. During this time a prospective player is locked down to a “starter edition” of the game which only gives them access to Act I and really cannot do much more. Although Blizzard says this is a glitch they are still standing by the statement that it is meant to protect against fraud.
