Are Smart TVs too Smart for the common user

At CES in Las Vegas a flood of smart televisions showed up, they are special because of their characteristics that combine the TV and a computer inside of the same device. However, the NPD Group conducted a research study of American customers with smart TVs, indicating that people are almost always ignoring the advanced capabilities of their smart TVs. Additionally they found that of all the services and applications they are offered they use only those that allow streaming of video, film and TV.
LG working on a new Google TV lineup

At the moment, LG is offering two TVs based on the Google TV platform. For the next year they are preparing two additional lines (the GA 7900 and GA 6400) with a total of seven models and five different diagonals. The new models will have a very thin edge and an attractive stand. The GA Series 7900 will have a 47 and 55-inch LCD model with a backlit edge LED technology.

According to market research company Gartner, nearly 85% of televisions manufactured in 2016 will have integrated capabilities for Internet access. Principal research analyst at Gartner, Paul O'Donovan said “In the end, the choice may be all about the extra content that one TV brand offers over another. Consumers will be asking questions such as, which Internet TV services can the TV access? Are these the sites I think are valuable? Can I use my smartphone or tablet with this TV?”
AMD talks Smart TVs, Next Gen APUs, and 7 Series Mobile at CES 2012
CES 2012 Las Vegas, Nevada – Just when you thought our CES coverage was over we bring you our coverage of AMD and a few of the products that they wanted to show off during CES. AMD’s booth this year was somewhat out of the way. Although many companies choose to be on the main floor of the show AMD was up in what almost seemed like a back corner in the meeting room area. This did not mean that they did not bring out some cool stuff. It just seemed like they really were not looking to deal with the madness of the show floor.
