The VMK Company which is backed by 26-year old entrepreneur Mankou Verona was founded in 2009. They have launched two products to the market that can boast the label "Designed in Congo." These are the smartphone Elikia and tablet Way-C.

It looks like Acer plans to launch a new tablet. The unit price of this new tablet should not exceed $ 100, which will align the device with the cheapest Android tablets that are out on the market. However, a low price does not mean that the device itself will be bad; on the contrary it's a pretty decent bang for buck.

Nokia is developing a tablet based on an ARM processor and Windows RT, according plans of the Finnish manufacturer. The device should be launched in early 2013, and will have a screen with a diagonal of 10.1 inches. This device should complement their Windows Phone line up and let them compete in a wider market (with companies like HTC and Samsung who will be making both devices as well).

According to some rumors, Google wants to offer a tablet for those with shallower pockets, priced at around $99. The tablet would be similar to the current Nexus 7, produced by Asus, but it would have weaker hardware. How did we reach the hardware characteristics? On the web appeared a GLBenchmark for a certain tablet under the name "Asus ME172V", which some consider to be a future entry-level Nexus 7 (or one that has been assigned the name) from Asus’ workshops.

One of the things that was most criticized about the new iPad Mini was certainly the lack of the Retina Display, but it seems that this will no longer be the case.  Just days after Apple officially started selling the iPad Mini, rumors about is successor have already started to spread.

Anyone who has ever dropped their cell phone or tablet knows the cringe that crosses their face before the device even makes its landing. That dreaded grimace doesn’t get any better when the beloved gadget ends up in a puddle, or a pool, or into your drink. That last one happens more than you’d think.

If it's we are to believe the chiefs of Conde Nast International, publishers have little to fear from the future provided they embrace tablets as the medium for the issue of their magazines. In the last few years, mainly thanks to the Web and the Internet in general, circulation of newspapers and magazines, especially those non-specialized and designed for the general population, is decreasing.

Google’s tiny 7-inch tablet with Android has launched a new trend in this market. Although not completely a new idea, having Google’s official stamp on the 7-inch device and Apple’s inadvertent support of the form factor with the iPad mini have given the smaller tablets a boost. With a starting price of $199 it was a very interesting trade for customers, but so far no official sale numbers have been released. Now Asustek’s CFO has finally given a hint about the figures and they are pretty good for the Nexus 7. With decent competition coming from the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD ($199) and Apple's 7.9-inch iPad mini ($329); Google will not have an easy time in the market, but at least customers will have decent choices.

Amazon has decided to use their position as the world's largest on-line store, in an effort to draw attention to their device, or better yet, to dissuade people from the competition. Thus visitors to their home page are treated to a very "subtle" statement that the Kindle Fire HD offers "a lot more for a lot less money." The screenshot of Amazon's Web site makes it all clear. Kindle's manufacturer points out that Fire HD has an HD screen with 30% more pixels than the iPad mini and also higher pixel density (216 to 163 PPI).

The tablet wars are going to get very interesting now that Microsoft has pushed out Windows 8 and their “design point” device the Surface RT. Already this morning there are multiple articles about this new OS and hardware from both sides of the argument.  It is interesting to see the comments that range across Facebook and other social networking sites about the new OS, and more importantly about Microsoft’s Surface RT. This last product has created its own subset of fans and haters outside the general argument about Windows 8. So the big question is, where does Windows 8 and Surface RT stand in the market on the day of the launch, and where do they really fit in?
