VPN Service Hola Leaves you vulnerable to tracking and hacking...
There is nothing worse than thinking you are protecting your internet travels when in reality you are participating in a giant botnet. That appears to be the case that is happening with VPN provider Hola. According to security researchers the use of the service still leaves you at risk of being tracked regardless of what you do and leaves you at even greater risk than just tracking.
New Browser Based Flaw Leaks VPN Users' IP Addresses
Privacy on the internet is a hard thing to achieve. For starters there are tons of companies that are very interested in what you do and where you go online so they can get you to buy things. On top of that there are the spying eyes of the government watching to make sure you are not a bad guy and storing all of this data in massive warehouses. This mass data collection seems to exist in every single device we own; from laptops to phone to smart TVs. It is enough to make someone paranoid, or at least to look for some form of privacy when connected to the internet.
The BBC says if you use VPN you are probably a pirate
The concept of the VPN (Virtual Private Network) is one that is intended to allow people to make a secure, encrypted connection from point A to point B. in most cases this connection is from a remote location back to the home or an office. VPN actually covers a few different protocols that include IPSEC (IP Security), PPTP (point to point tunnel protocol), L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol), SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and a few other less common ones. In recent years it has also become a method to get around DNS blocking and also as a form of maintaining private/ anonymous communication.
Iran blocks Google and Gmail
In preparation for launching their own internet, the Iranian government has decided to block Google. This move should “protect” Iranian citizens from big bad internet freedom. An official known only by his last name Khoramabadi stated "Google and Gmail will be filtered throughout the country until further notice“. The Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) said that this move was provoked by the anti-Islamic movie posted on YouTube that Google refused to remove. As we all know, Muslims don’t take these kinds of things lightly and we saw many newspapers or TV shows that made fun of their religious figures have received death threats shortly after the incident.
