The White House abandons BlackBerry

Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

The White House and U.S. President Obama will reportedly soon replace their existing Blackberry devices with alternative solutions based on Android. If the decision proves true it will give another blow to the Canadian company that is already in serious financial problems.

The White House is currently testing Android devices from Samsung and LG, which would then be, if they meet the requirements, introduced in internal use. Tests are currently in the initial stage and will take several more months before the devices will be officially used.

The U.S. Department of Defense and the company Samsung confirmed this test, while the LG issued a statement that they are not familiar with these tests. Blackberry, however pointed out that their devices provide a high level of security and are in use in U.S. Government agencies for over a decade.
