Are Digg, Google, Facebook and Reddit Censoring Sites Without Notice or Recourse?

censorship-InternetOn June 11th something happened across the internet that has reverberated through many online services that we take for granted. Starting with Facebook there was an unexplained (and Facebook still refuses to comment) run of legitimate sites suddenly being marked as spam, then just as suddenly being “fixed”. We saw this with our links where after posting an article on Microsoft we lost all links between June 11th and May 28th. When we tried to repost them we were told that the links were blocked because they were “spammy”. Our report of this issue resulted in well over 100 others stating the same thing was happening to them.

Is Blizzard's Diablo III Real Money Auction House Opening Them Up For More Trouble?

diablo_3dhackIt looks like the gang behind Diablo III still feel their severs are secure enough to go ahead with their Real Money Auction House. This is where you can spend real money for virtual items that are collected in the game world. Blizzard gets a cut of the money that changes hands so we understand why they are pushing ahead, but what we do not get is how they can continue to move forward on this when they have had so many unanswered security questions.

Windows 8 Is Not "enterprise-ready by design" At Least Not Any Enterprise We Know Of

steve_ballmer_apple_tabletMicrosoft has recognized a flaw in their plan for Windows 8. This is the enterprise space. Apparently they might have thought that because the majority of business and enterprises use Windows based networks and systems they were going to just get those sales again with Windows 8. Sadly most of the IT people I have spoken with (and that is a lot) do not want it in their shops. They view Windows 8 as a mistake that will eclipse Windows ME and Windows Vista together.

Apple's WWDC Brought Out Quite a Few New Things, But It Just Did Not Feel The Same...

tim_cook_0115Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference took place today and with it came a flood of news articles about what Apple said today. Many of these were off the deep end as if what Apple was saying was music of unearthly quality. We did not attend (and were not invited anyway), but have been reading some of what is being pushed out to the Internet. What we have noticed in the video, articles and live feeds is something that we have talked about time and time again. Apple is not the same company as it was with Steve Jobs.

Micrsoft Announces the Release of Visual Studio 2012 Express For Desktop, Finally

steve_ballmer_apple_tabletIt seems that Microsoft might actually be listening to some of the criticism that has been flowing about their next generation operating systems. A few days ago we reported that Microsoft had made the decision to ship Visual Studio Express 2012 with support for Metro Apps only. This upset a large portion of the development community and was lambasted across the internet as a very dumb move.
