Latest Intel processors based on the Haswell architecture comes with up to 12 cores. Intel will introduce versions with 8-10 cores that are primarily intended for desktop computers and high-performance workstations. They also noted that the 18-core Xeon processor models will be produced in the future 14-nanometer manufacturing process.
The first test specimen of processors based on Broadwell architecture are expected in the first half of next year, and the final samples should arrive on the market by 2015.
[Ed – This information is a little suspect at this time as we are hearing some differing information about Broadwell. As with all rumors they should be taken with a grain of salt. We are trying to get some more concrete information on Intel's next CPU.]
