Initial estimates of Z10 sales stated around 1.75 million devices sold by the end of the fiscal year, analyst firms now estimate that BlackBerry supplied distributors with between 1 and 1.5 million units, but not all of these were sold as the sales estimates show. The original expectations were talking about 3-4 million devices shipped in the same period.
Now that the model Z10 is on the market, sales of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 have dropped significantly. If this trend continues the company could mark the fifth quarter in a row in the red zone. On the other hand, the BlackBerry Z10 is currently on sale only in a few countries (such as Canada and Great Britain), while unit sales in the largest and most competitive market, the U.S., will start in March. BlackBerry has not officially commented on any specific sales results released.
