Google launches Android OS for wearable devices

Google through its official blog announced a new operating system that will run on future wearable gadgets such as smart watches, bracelets, etc. The new operating system is called Android Wear and as its name suggests is based on the well-known Android. In order to use small screens such come right along with clocks, Google has adapted whole interface.

Google Now will also be an integral part of the new OS, so you'll be able to communicate with the device using the “OK Google” commands.

Shortly after Google's announcement LG (G Watch) and Motorola (Moto 360) also presented early versions of their smart watches that will come to market later this year, probably during the second quarter.

Although this is not confirmed we were told that Google did assist in the initial development of the custom Android OS that the I’M Watch runs, although it is very different from what we now expect Android for wearable devices to be. It will be interesting to see if I’M Watch moves to this new OS and what that will do to sales...]
