Since the BUILD conference is held in early April, at which news about Windows will be disclosed, sources close to Microsoft believes that they will present the Office for the iPad. Although the leadership of the company led by Steve Ballmer was previously against the idea of launching Office for iPad versions prior to touch version on Windows, they changed the opinion, sources say.
Applications to the Office for iPad offer refer only Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It is expected that this office suite of applications will require a subscription to Office 365. The recently announced Office 365 will offer personal license to use on one computer and one tablet. Introduction speech will be held by the new CEO Satya Nadella.
[Ed - If this is true it will be a double edged sword for Microsoft. On the one hand it will generate significant revenue. On the other it will hurt sales of the Surface and other Windows 8.x tablets. Of course Microsoft could hobble them so they do not contain the same feature set as what you get with Windows, but that would potentially dampen sales of the product.]
