Intel builds factory in Ireland

The Irish agency for construction planning An Bord Pleanala approved Intel’s plans to build a new factory for the production of processors. It is a facility in which they should produce processors built on the 14 nanometer process, and should be located in the Intel campus in Leixlip County Kildare.

Start of construction is still awaiting approval by Intel's management and the company intends to produce 14 nanometer solutions at factories in Oregon and Arizona also. The new plant in Leixlip (refitted former Fab 14, now Fab 24) should be built in the next two years and will create many jobs. About 3,500 people will be engaged in the construction, while around 800 highly qualified engineers should get a permanent job.

The factory will cover 244,819 square meters. The complex includes the main production facility on three floors and a number of ancillary buildings, warehouses, and large parking lot for employees. Intel is set to invest $4 billion in the construction of the factory.
