No KitKat for Galaxy Nexus

Two years have passed since the launch of the Galaxy Nexus. In the world of smartphones it is an eternity, and from Google that was officially confirmed.

According to official information, the Galaxy Nexus will not get an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat. The story is interesting because Google stated that they focused on securing smooth operation on older devices while making KitKat, and emphasize that as one of the major advantages of the new version of Android. Galaxy Nexus has twice the RAM of the minimum requirements of the OS, and Google for the inability to upgrade blames Texas Instruments chipset whose manufacturer no longer actively develop chips for mobile phones.

As mentioned, the device was launched two years ago, and Google together with their partners provide upgrades devices that were released maximum a year and a half ago, according to the official website. This means that the Nexus 4, introduced a year ago, will lose official support in April next year. If you believe in the power of the people, feel free to sign the petition on this link to persuade Google to push the update for Galaxy Nexus too.
