During the announcement of quarterly financial results,  BlackBerry's CEO Thorsten Heins has released some information on existing devices. Sadly news will not please owners of PlayBook tablet, as the financial results for the first quarter did not meet the expectations of shareholders.

Despite previous announcements, Thorsten Heins has now confirmed that the operating system BlackBerry 10 will not be available on the PlayBook tablet. According to him, the reason is insufficient fluid user experience, therefore, further efforts to adjust BlackBerry 10 system for the PlayBook were canceled, and human resources reserved for this project focused on the company's core business - smartphones.

PlayBook OS and BlackBerry 10 operating systems are based on the same QNX OS, but BlackBerry 10 is still much more advanced system and has additional features and support for new technologies. The company still sells PlayBook tablets ($179 for the Wi-Fi version with 32, and $219 for a model with 64 GB of flash memory) and intends to continue to provide software support for the operating system PlayBook OS.
