The new phone will feature 1GB of RAM and 16GB storage that can be expanded with microSD cards should be more than enough. As far as connectivity is concerned it's capable of WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and has microUSB port, along with tri-band HSPA (900/1900/2100) and quad-band GSM/EDGE. Although many found these specs lower than they have expected, they are still rather decent. For example; the iPhone 4S has a better display and camera, but 512MB less RAM while the CPU ticks at the same speed and even though this is the “Mini” edition it's still half an inch bigger than 4S. Some other qualities of this “tiny” device are NFC for mobile payments, Android Beam, 3.5mm headset, and 1500mAh battery.
The dimensions are 121.55x62.95x9.85mm, which is considerably smaller than the original S3. Mobilegeeks.de said that these specs are not 100% accurate but are most probable. It should start selling at €399 ($513) unlocked and SIM-free. Since it has really great specs and its size is not so “mini” if we compare it to some other devices, we can conclude that Samsung is bringing a decent entry level device that should be available to larger audiences, unlike its big brother Samsung Galaxy S3.|
[Ed – of course the S3 Mini will have to compete with the iPhone 5 and a few other contestants out there, but perhaps if the price is right it will win the hearts and credit cards of people looking to spend less than $300 for a new phone. Still I think that Samsung would have been better served to release a completely new product and not try to piggy back on the S3’s poularity.]
