Apple's iPhone 4S was second in deliveries and delivered a total of 16.2 million copies of this smartphone. The reason for falling sales, according to analysts, was the expectation of the iPhone 5, which could win first place back for apple again in the current quarter. Already in the third quarter there were combined shipping of over 22 million iPhones 4S and 5, but in the last quarter of 2012 the iPhone 5 should be the best-selling smartphone globally.
Samsung is on the wings of great smartphone sales in the third quarter, reported a record profit of $7.4 billion, and the result was twice as good compared to the same period last year. “A large touchscreen design, extensive distribution across dozens of countries, and generous operator subsidies have been among the main causes of the Galaxy S3's success”. Do you think Samsung will hurry to release their new Galaxy S device once Apple overtakes the throne? It would be certainly nice to see, especially if that would cause the price drop for the S3 and make it available to even more users.
