WhatsApp doing better than ever

WhatsApp

At the conference D: Dive Into Mobile, CEO of WhatsApp Jan Koum bragged that this multi-platform messaging application you can find on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Symbian, Nokia S40 and Windows Phone is doing better than ever.

WhatsApp is currently on a monthly basis used by more people than Twitter, which has 200 million active users and WhatsApp servers on a daily basis handle about 18 billion messages, 8 billion more than Facebook. Interestingly, unlike Facebook and Twitter that rely on advertising, WhatsApp works on the basis of an annual subscription of $0.99. Despite the transition to a subscription, CEO claims that there was no falling number of users, and this explains with the users desire to communicate with friends and relatives without minding the ads.

Success of the  WhatsApp is a reason for speculations about the company's acquisition by a larger players. Jan Koum denies all such rumors and says, "Our goal is to build a viable, independent company."
