Unfortunately for everyone who expected Google's event that was to happen today they won’t be seeing it. Google has officially canceled the event over fears about hurricane Sandy [and rightly so]. The event was very much anticipated because the company was expected to announce their new LG Nexus 4 smartphone as well as a Nexus 10 tablet manufactured by Samsung. As the hurricane was predicted to hit New Your City on Sunday or Monday, with the threat of flooding and wind damage they decided that it's best to put the event off.

Cray's new supercomputer has been brought to life in America at the ORNL (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) which operates under the U.S. Department of Energy. Titan is capable of delivering more than 20 petaflops of computational power and therefore represents the world's most powerful supercomputer. It's the equivalent of the computing power from 500,000 laptops. The system is also known as the Cray XK7 and is used as an open science project.
In San Francisco, a little after 10 o'clock local time, Microsoft began formally presenting Windows Phone 8. This is Microsoft’s new operating system for mobile devices which is a direct successor of Windows Phone 7, but also the link between Windows 8, Windows RT computers, and handheld devices. Although for now only three device manufacturers have reaffirmed their support for the new mobile OS (Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, HTC Windows Phone 8x and 8S and Samsung Galaxy S Ativ), for Microsoft this is the most important event of the year after they launched Windows 8 and their Surface RT tablets. In addition to the big three mentioned earlier, it is expected that Huawei will launch smartphones with WP8, presumably the Ascend W1 model, designed for the lower segment of the smartphone market. ZTE also plans to release their model next year.
Although many think that the dangers of bills such as SOPA and PIPA are dead and gone they are not. In fact far from it and to make matters worse the ISPs are now getting in on the action and playing a role that they were never intended to. To add insult to injury these same ISPs are complaining about the government trying to control them by regulating how they can treat traffic on their networks. Yet we have word from one of our sources that Time Warner is conducting random scans for certain traffic profiles. These scans are looking for certain protocols, file sizes and file types. If they find something that gives a return… well things get a little uglier from there.
If Apple were a person they would need some serious psychological help. It seems that they have a personality that will not let them tell the truth at all. They dance around the truth and mix it up with spin and outright fantasy. You can see this trait by looking at any of their product launches or at any of the court cases they are involved in. Earlier this year we said that Apple insistence on pursuing a global legal campaign instead of innovating was going to hurt them and badly. Because they wanted to try and compete in the market with vague patents and outlandish copyrights Apple felt secure in being able to keep the market focus while blocking their competition through sales bans.
