New Kickstarter Project from Neal Stephenson Pushes For More Realistic Sword Based Games

clangintroOver the weekend we heard about an interesting project on Kickstarter that has caught our attention and imagination (while they are hoping to catch some of your money). The project is the brain child of science fiction writer Neal Stephenson and is a motion based sword combat game with the apt name of Clang (anyone else hear the black knight from Monty Python getting hit on the head?) The game will delve into the long sword fighting style as an arena combat game.

US CERT Calls AMD Out For A Security Issue In Their GPU Drivers

News_light-virus-1Ok, you know things are going bad for a product push when you hear that even the US Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has decided to weigh in on security issues surrounding the use of your product. In an unusual move US CERT has released a paper outlining very specific security issues with AMD Video Drivers. This issue would affect their desktop, professional mobile and even APU based drivers.

Facebook Rolls Out New 2-Step Mobile Payments System, Could This Be Part of the Phone Development?

facebook_moneyDo you remember the Facebook phone rumors that ran around the internet? There were articles both for and against a phone that centered on the social networking (and often privacy intruding) giant. I personally do not think it would be a good idea or that it will go over well with many consumers in the US (Europe is another matter though). However, when we talked with Paul Amsellem, CEO of Mobile Network Group, he mentioned that one of the things that Facebook would need to do is develop a better mobile payments system…

LinkedIn Confirms that Some Passwords Have Been Compromised; Apologizes And Increases Security With Hashing and Salting

linkedin-logoLinkedIn has confirmed that some of the roughly 6.45 Million (yes Million) user passwords that were stolen by a Russian hacker and posted in a forum (where he asked for help in decrypting them) do correspond to LinkedIn accounts. The breach has come on the heels of recent issues with their mobile app. This caused quite a stir and has caused a few people to stop using the mobile app completely.

Hackers Claim to Have Stolen As Many as Six Million LinkedIn Account Passwords

News_manstealingdataJust when you thought it was safe to go back in the web waters… It seems that some enterprising hacking group (as of right now not associated with Anonymous) has decided to break into LinkedIn and grab some passwords. According to reports the data is still in encrypted format, but the group that grabbed them is looking for help decrypting them.
