At Computex in Taipei AMD is showing off a prototype Windows 8 tablet. This is something that we predicted they would do right after they announced their shift to low power CPUs (well really APUs). It was a move that we predicted was not only logical, but one that was necessary for AMD with the shift to tablets and ultrabooks that many companies are making in anticipation of Windows 8 and its very touch oriented design.

Microsoft is looking to get Android users to do some beta testing for them. You might be wondering what we are talking about at this point so I suppose I should explain a little. Microsoft has launched an automation application called on{x}. The name is a play on application code that describes an event that is programed to run when a certain event happens. Sony has developed an interactive book for the PS3 that is sure to delight Harry Potter fans. That is right; Sony is releasing a book that you can interact with on your PS3, if you have a few things first like a PlayStation Eye camera and Sony’s Motion Controller. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series this is either amazing or just a bit disappointing. Many fans are saying they would rather have the often hinted at Encyclopedia of the Harry Potter world to add to their collection. With Sony’s new Wonderbook you will need so many things just to read more about the world of Harry Potter. While the new product from Sony does offer and chance to actually experience the Books in a new way, getting everything is going to get expensive. The Book of Spells will not be the only title for Sony’s series of augmented reality products, but it certainly is one that should help to interest consumers (especially Harry Potter fans)
We told you about the new malware threat in Iran (and some other Middle Eastern countries). This is a new and very sophisticated bit of spyware that appears designed to gather intelligence about the state of Iran’s nuclear program. Kaspersky discovered the worm after being asked to check some systems that appeared to be acting strange. This investigation led to the discovery on Flame and the identification of some 20 plug-ins for the malware that can do everything from capture screens, to turning on a system’s microphone to record anything around the system. It is also able to record VoIP communication through applications like Skype.

In every occasion if you dig deep enough you will find the reasons for someone’s actions, even if they seem completely random. For a while now we have watched as congress has pushed one stupid internet control law after another. For many (us included) we have felt that this was at the request of the MPAA, RIAA and other copyright holders. After all the measures and consequences in the laws were geared toward them and helping them to “prevent piracy”.
